Making the First Griffin
In February of 2000 we started work on creating our first Gatsby Griffin. Our first donor car was a 1986 Mercury Cougar that had belonged to my son.
With the engine and transmission already moved for repairs and maintenance, our first step was to remove most of the steel body.

Since the Cougar is a unibody car, we considered building a frame to connect the body to the suspension and drive train. After some consideration, we decided to scrape this idea and try a mid-80's Crown Victoria. That car was too short, so we then decided to try a mid-80's Lincoln Town Car.

This car has a 118" wheel base already. (Photos to come shortly) We welcome your comments and opinions.
