The Gatsby Griffin is coming back. Originally call the Sceptre, this car was created by Tom McBurnie and Ray Kenney and introduced in the late 70's. Only 15 Sceptres were created and sold before the car was purchased by Gatsby Coachworks of San Jose, California (formerly owned by Sky Clausen.)
After being renamed the Griffin, it is believed that approximately 50 to 60 Griffins were produced while owned by Gatsby Coachworks, both as turn key cars as well as kits. The Griffin has not been on the market for about ten years.
JPR Cars, Ltd.,
purchased the exclusive rights to produce the Griffin from Gatsby Coachworks in 1997.
We plan to have this exquisite car back on the market in the Spring of 2003, both as a turn-key and as a
kit.
As the development of this car
progresses,
we will update our web page, keeping everyone abreast of its status.
For more details or if you know were any of these cars are located, feel free to contact us.
We are trying to up-date our records on the history and whereabouts of both of these cars
and would like to add their owner's named to our
Great Gatsby Club.
